The NYC Comic Con opened October 13-16th and it was amazing! There was a ton of activities planned, panels and workshops which were great.! But lets not forget the costumes! Check out our photo gallery to see them. It was exciting to see a prominent Bronx presence at the convention. BX! This year Bronx Heroes teamed up with Baron Ambrosia to promoting his new comic book The Adventures of Baron Ambrosia, drawn by Ray Felix. It was a huge success, we had cocoa beetles, a jabinero pepper give away, rice wine fermenting in snake and an enthusiastic crowd. Can't wait till next year! Did you hear about the Afro Lati@ Conference coming up Novemeber 5th , 2011 Ray Felix, artist will talk about his comic Runaway Slave while being a guest on the panel: Our Voices: Writing and Teaching Afro-Latin@ Perspectives. During the Afro Latin@s Now! Festival Saturday, November 5, 2:00pm-3:30pm @ El Museo De Barrio 1230 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 10029 Afro-Latin@ published writers of fiction, poetry, and prose discuss why and how they approach race and ethnicity in their work. What can Black Latin@ writers do to raise awareness of our issues through youth literature and in the schools? What is involved in the creation of accurate portrayals of Afro-Latin@s and their personal and social challenges?
